Avoiding the Gospel

I love blog titles that are technically correct but whose first interpretation is something totally different. If you came to this post spoiling for a fight about Jesus, you’re out of luck.

This post is about the Sunday morning Gospel music lineup on Seattle’s C89.5 radio, the best station in the history of the world. Something having to do with their nonprofit status requires them to carry “alternative” programming, so every Sunday they escort in the honey-throated evangelicals they keep locked up in the basements of Nathan Hale High School and let them out to reenact the Crucifixion, driving audio nails through my eardrums. I always forget, so every Sunday there’s a mad scramble when I turn on the car radio or fire up the browser and hear it. AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I scream. GOSPEL MUSIC!

Thankfully for my ears (and, I suppose, Beelzebub), I just found a pretty good alternative. Gruvsonic Dance Radio, out of Chicago, streams a few stations over the internet. The Mainstream Dance Channel (.wax; 65kbps) is a bit harder than what I’m used to with C89, but it’s OK so far. Check it out.
