Test post from Flock

I just downloaded and installed Flock 1.0 – “The Social Web Browser” – and am writing this post from the blog post feature built in to the Flock browser.

Couple notes right off the bat:

  1. You can’t insert hyperlinks using ALT+SHIFT+A, which is funny, because who would have thought that an AJAX-y web page would have better functionality than a local EXE?
  2. You can’t seem to insert local images and upload them to your WordPress storage.
  3. How the heck do you select categories from this thing? I don’t see a way. [UPDATE: When you click “Publish”, you get to select categories]

Pros: It’s easy to add text-only posts, almost a twitter-type thing if you want to dash off a quick thought or two.

Overall first impression: very much a 1.0-type feature set. I’m guessing they have the engineers hard at work making sure that this limited blog feature set will not stay this way for long.

Haven’t had a chance yet to check out Flock’s integration with other services, such as Facebook, Flickr, etc. Will report back later.
